A Real Job? It’s More Likely Than You Think

Having a real job is nice. It’s the reason I’m in beautiful San Diego for the summer and gives me something to do all day. It also means I get paid so I can do fun stuff like go to E3 in June. Unfortunately it means less time to do other things like blogging. Until next time.

BioShock 2 Multiplayer Detailed, CoD4-esque

bioshock2

2k has announced that they are partnering with Digital Extremes to create BioShock 2’s multiplayer component. Digital Extremes is the developer of Dark Sector and also worked on the Unreal Tournament games.

The multiplayer mode is set before the fall of Rapture, so it does not tie in to the single player campaign. You play as a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions and fight with other players across fully reworked maps.

The mode will include an experience point system, presumably similar to Call of Duty 4’s in which you earn experience from playing matches and can customize your character with weapons, gene tonics, and plasmids. This is the part that really interests me as I’m big on customization and it sounds like you will have the same level of customization in multiplayer as you do in single player. This is the game I am looking forward to most (obviously from all the posts about it on this blog) and it will be released this fall on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

Hotel Dusk Is Fun When Your Power Is Out

hotel-dusk

I am pretty slow when it comes to DS games, but when the right moment hits I can really marathon with them. That happened yesterday when my power was out with Hotel Dusk: Room 215. I have had the game since Christmas but had not gotten very far in it even though I had really liked it up to where I had gotten. Well yesterday afternoon my power went out and did not come back until noon today, almost 24 hours later. So last night you can imagine my boredom. No Internet, no console or PC gaming, nothing. So I figure it’s a good time to get my DS out.

At first I was playing Pokemon Platinum and I beat the 3rd gym leader, but I cannot play that game for long stretches since I have essentially already played it in Diamond. So I popped in Hotel Dusk and away I went. I played for about 4 hours straight and got quite far. For those of you who have played it, and without spoiling anything, I left off right after when Rosa tells me to go find Dunning if I want to learn more about the history of the hotel when she is cleaning. I’m not sure how many chapters there are in the game but I’ve got a feeling I’ve got to be getting close to the end. I will probably try and finish it up later today if I can. But aside from how bored I was the rest of the time, I am glad I had the chance to play more of this game as I love it so far and recommend it to any adventure game fans.

Orange Box is Steam Weekend Deal

orangebox

This weekend on Steam the Orange Box is 66% off, a must pick up for anyone who does not have it yet. I have Half-Life 2 and HL2 Episode One but I still plan on picking it up. For only $10 you can hardly go wrong. Sometimes the weekend deals last into Monday but I wouldn’t wait that long. I’m really liking some of their weekend deals recently, with this and then Left 4 Dead being half off a while back. It’s a great move on their part to get people to buy their games who may not have before. Get it on Steam now.

Final Fantasy XIII Demo Videos

Well I have been extremely busy with school as it’s my last week before finals, but I still want to give a short update. Since I don’t have time to write a full post, check out these gameplay videos from the Final Fantasy XIII demo which was released accompanying Final Fantasy VII Advent Children in Japan.

Hit the break for a couple more. (more…)
