Chris Avellone at Framework 09

Chris Avellone, maybe best known for his work on Fallout 2 and also the designer of some of my favorite games including Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2, delivered a presentation at Framework 09 in Australia recently on topics in game design like the changing needs of today’s gamers and the importance of story. The presentation is quite long and well worth a watch if you admire Chris as much as I do. Check it out below.

Another big thing this year at E3 for me was Star Wars: The Old Republic, the upcoming story-driven MMO from LucasArts and BioWare. I was able to see the demo for this game not once but twice, and also got the great opportunity to sit down and interview Tom Nichols, LucasArts executive producer on the game. You can check out a very detailed review of everything we saw in the demo here, and while you’re at it make sure to read our interview with Tom Nichols on the game.
